Cargo
Transporting columns and reactors
Columns are often extremely long, reactors extremely heavy. Both travel horizontally and are erected at destination. The last metres in the chemical park or refinery are often as demanding as the route itself.
What matters
- Length or weight
- Columns challenge length and bends, reactors weight and axle loads.
- Support
- Saddles and support points per drawing; internals must not be loaded.
- Erecting
- With main crane and tailing crane according to a lift plan – via partners.
- Plant premises
- Clarify internal rules, pipe bridges and bottlenecks on site.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Length, diameter and weight?
- Are there drawings with support and lifting points?
- What is the route on the plant premises like?
- Who erects?
- Does the piece arrive by ship at a port?
What we need from you
- Dimensions and weight
- Drawing
- Plant premises and installation site
- Time window
Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
- Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
- Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned
Good to know
Agree plant-internal releases and shutdowns early – then delivery fits exactly into your shutdown window.
How it works
- 01
Request
You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.
- 02
Review
We check dimensions, route and plant premises and clarify permit, escort and lifting.
- 03
Quote
After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.
- 04
Execution
Transport after permit to the installation site, erecting via partners.
Questions and answers: Columns and reactors
How is a long column erected?
With main crane and tailing crane according to a lift plan – via partners and coordinated with plant engineering.
What must be considered on plant premises?
Pipe bridges, bottlenecks, plant rules and releases. We clarify these with the operator in advance.
Can a column be brought from the port to the plant?
Yes, the road leg from the port is common. How the chain is organised is set out in the quote.
