Planning
Stating dimensions for a heavy transport correctly
For permit, vehicle choice and route survey, the dimensions of the goods in transport condition count – including all overhangs. A few centimetres can decide whether a bridge can be passed or a permit must be reapplied for.
What matters
- Envelope dimensions
- The greatest length, width and height – across all overhangs, nozzles, brackets.
- Transport condition
- Dimensions as the goods are loaded – without removed parts, with frame or saddle.
- Always state the unit
- 3.85 m, 385 cm or 3850 mm – without a unit, numbers are worthless.
- Per piece
- For several pieces, the dimensions of each piece, not just the largest.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Were the dimensions measured in transport condition?
- Are all overhangs included?
- With or without frame?
- Is there a drawing with dimensions?
- Which values are estimated?
What we need from you
- Length × width × height per piece with unit
- Weight per piece
- Note on estimates
- Drawing (after our reply)
Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
- Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
- Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned
Good to know
Measure the final transport state – accurate dimensions ensure your permit fits.
How it works
- 01
Request
You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.
- 02
Review
We check the dimensions for plausibility and ask if anything is unclear.
- 03
Quote
After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.
- 04
Execution
The checked dimensions go into permit, vehicle choice and route survey.
Questions and answers: Stating dimensions correctly
Which dimensions does a heavy transport need?
Length, width and height of each piece in transport condition, including all overhangs, with unit.
What are envelope dimensions?
The greatest extent in length, width and height – as if the piece were packed into a box.
What happens if the dimensions are wrong?
Then the permit no longer fits. The transport may be delayed or must be reapplied for.
