Cargo

Transporting long and heavy steel girders

Steel girders for halls, bridges or buildings are often much longer than normal load beds and sometimes very heavy. Length determines vehicle and route, weight determines axle loads – and assembly determines delivery sequence.

What matters

Over-length
Extendable trailers or steerable dollies make long girders transportable.
Bends
Long girders need room – bends and roundabouts are checked.
Load securing
Girders are secured against sliding and tipping; edges protected.
Assembly sequence
Girders arrive in the order in which they are installed.

Planning questions

We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.

  1. How long, wide and heavy is the largest girder?
  2. How many girders in total?
  3. Is there an assembly sequence?
  4. What is the site access like?
  5. Who lifts at destination?

What we need from you

  • Parts list with dimensions and weights
  • Site and access
  • Assembly dates
  • Lifting options

Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.

What we do for you

What we organise

  • Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
  • Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
  • Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned

Good to know

Protected coating and edges – we secure your girders so they arrive undamaged.

How it works

  1. 01

    Request

You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.

  2. 02

    Review

We check lengths, weights and route and clarify vehicles, permits and escorts.

  3. 03

    Quote

After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.

  4. 04

    Execution

Transports after permit, delivery in assembly sequence.

Questions and answers: Steel girders

From what length does a steel girder need special transport?

When it exceeds the generally permitted vehicle length. Then a permit and suitable vehicle are needed.

Can girders be delivered in assembly sequence?

Yes, if permits are in place and the sequence is coordinated.

How are coated girders protected?

With edge protectors and suitable lashing so that the coating is not damaged.

A short description is enough.

Dimensions per piece (L × W × H)

Please with unit. Comma or point as decimal separator, e.g. 3.85 m.

Can the load be divided? (optional)
Known loading conditions (optional)

What should we coordinate via our partners? (optional)

Whether and to what extent anything is needed is checked per project.

You can send technical drawings after our first reply. Unknown values lead to questions – not to an estimated price commitment.
