Cargo
Transporting industrial furnaces
Industrial furnaces for heat treatment, melting or firing are large and heavy – often because of the lining. The refractory lining is sensitive to shocks and twisting. Large furnaces travel in segments.
What matters
- Lining
- Refractory material adds weight and is shock-sensitive.
- Segments
- Large furnaces are split into segments; each has its own dimensions and weights.
- Twisting
- Casing and lining must not distort during lifting and transport.
- Moving in
- Into halls through doors, roof openings or by skidding.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Which furnace, complete or in segments?
- Dimensions and weights per piece?
- Is the lining installed?
- How does the furnace get into the hall?
- Are there manufacturer requirements?
What we need from you
- Parts list
- Manufacturer requirements
- Route into the building
- Period
Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
- Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
- Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned
Good to know
Agree the split with your furnace builder – we plan the transport for each piece accordingly.
How it works
- 01
Request
You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.
- 02
Review
We check pieces, route and moving in and clarify permits and partners.
- 03
Quote
After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.
- 04
Execution
Transport after permit, moving in with partner equipment up to the agreed point.
Questions and answers: Industrial furnaces
Are industrial furnaces transported with their lining?
Sometimes. Whether the lining stays installed is the furnace builder's decision; it adds weight and shock sensitivity.
How is a large furnace transported?
In segments defined by the furnace builder. We plan each segment with its own dimensions and weights.
Who assembles the furnace at the new site?
The furnace builder. We bring the segments to the agreed point.
