Cargo

Transporting large heat exchangers

Shell-and-tube heat exchangers in refineries, chemical plants and power stations are long and heavy; their bundles are pulled for cleaning or repair and transported. Large plate heat exchangers are compact but heavy.

What matters

Bundle and shell
Tube bundles often travel separately from the shell, with their own dimensions and weights.
Support
Tube sheets and baffles are sensitive; support follows the drawing.
Turnarounds
Removal, transport and reinstallation within the tight window of a plant turnaround.
Residues
Bundles are handed over cleaned and released.

Planning questions

We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.

  1. Which type, bundle or complete?
  2. Dimensions and weight?
  3. Is there turnaround planning with dates?
  4. Is the bundle cleaned and released?
  5. Where to – workshop, cleaning, manufacturer?

What we need from you

  • Dimensions and weight
  • Release status
  • Turnaround dates
  • Route

Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.

What we do for you

What we organise

  • Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
  • Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
  • Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned

Good to know

Hand over bundles cleaned and released – then they travel without delay.

How it works

  1. 01

    Request

You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.

  2. 02

    Review

We check dimensions, weight and dates and clarify permit and lifting.

  3. 03

    Quote

After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.

  4. 04

    Execution

Transport to the workshop and back within the turnaround window.

Questions and answers: Heat exchangers

Are tube bundles transported without the shell?

During turnarounds usually yes. The bundle is pulled and transported separately.

Can a bundle be taken for cleaning and back?

Yes, outbound and return are planned towards the turnaround dates.

Must the bundle be cleaned before transport?

Yes, it is handed over cleaned and released. We do not transport residues.

Cargo and project data

A short description is enough.

Dimensions per piece (L × W × H)

Please with unit. Comma or point as decimal separator, e.g. 3.85 m.

Weight per piece
Can the load be divided? (optional)
Known loading conditions (optional)

What should we coordinate via our partners? (optional)

Whether and to what extent anything is needed is checked per project.

You can send technical drawings after our first reply. Unknown values lead to questions – not to an estimated price commitment.
