Cargo

Transporting long glulam beams

Glulam beams for halls, sports halls and structures are often very long and curved, but comparatively light. Length determines the vehicle, the timber surface demands protection against pressure marks and moisture.

What matters

Over-length
Steerable dollies or extendable trailers make long beams transportable.
Curved beams
Arched beams are also tall – check height.
Surface
Edge protectors and wide straps against pressure marks.
Moisture
Film or tarpaulins protect visible timber surfaces.

Planning questions

We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.

  1. How long, tall and heavy are the beams?
  2. Straight or curved?
  3. How many beams?
  4. What is the site access like?
  5. Is there an assembly sequence?

What we need from you

  • Dimensions and weights
  • Number
  • Site
  • Assembly dates

Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.

What we do for you

What we organise

  • Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
  • Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
  • Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned

Good to know

Have the manufacturer apply the weather protection – we secure so it stays intact until the site.

How it works

  1. 01

    Request

You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.

  2. 02

    Review

We check lengths, heights and route and clarify vehicles and permits.

  3. 03

    Quote

After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.

  4. 04

    Execution

Transports after permit, delivery in assembly sequence.

Questions and answers: Glulam beams

How are very long timber beams transported?

With a steerable dolly or extendable trailer, after permit and with a bend check.

How are pressure marks on timber avoided?

With edge protectors and wide straps at suitable points.

Are curved beams more difficult?

Often yes, because they are also tall. We check height and route in advance.

Whether and to what extent anything is needed is checked per project.

You can send technical drawings after our first reply. Unknown values lead to questions – not to an estimated price commitment.
