Cargo
Transporting generators
Large generators for power plants, industry or standby power are heavy and compact. Stator and rotor often travel separately; the manufacturer specifies centre of gravity, lifting points and transport locks. Compact generator sets of normal dimensions are planned by Logisticoo Machinery.
What matters
- Stator and rotor
- Often transported separately – with their own dimensions and weights.
- Centre of gravity
- Not always central; it determines support and lift plan.
- Transport locks
- Rotors are secured against movement, bearings protected.
- Smaller gensets
- Containerised standby gensets are often wide but not excessively heavy.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Which generator type, and do stator and rotor travel separately?
- Weight and dimensions per piece?
- Where is the centre of gravity?
- How is lifting done at destination?
- Are there manufacturer requirements?
What we need from you
- Pieces with dimensions and weights
- Centre of gravity (if known)
- Route
- Time window
Preparation: You hand over the cargo ready for loading with known lifting points – dismantling, assembly and foundation work are handled by your team or your installation partner.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Feasibility check per project with questions on missing values
- Coordination of permits, escort vehicles, route surveys and lifting equipment via partners
- Quote with the agreed scope once the transport can be planned
Good to know
Tell us the manufacturer's or operator's assembly date – we plan the delivery precisely around it.
How it works
- 01
Request
You state the cargo, dimensions and weight per piece with units, rough route and time window – marking anything unknown.
- 02
Review
We check pieces, route and lifting situation and clarify permit and partners.
- 03
Quote
After the feasibility check you receive a quote with the agreed scope, including partner services.
- 04
Execution
Transport after permit, lifting with partner crane according to the lift plan.
Questions and answers: Generators
Are stator and rotor transported together?
For large generators usually separately. The manufacturer specifies this.
Why does the centre of gravity matter for generators?
Because it is often off-centre and determines support, securing and lift.
Does Logisticoo also transport standby gensets?
Yes, if dimensions or weight require special transport. Smaller units can be planned by Logisticoo Machinery.
